MINISTER OF COMMERCE AND CONSUMER AFFAIRS AND CIVIL DEFENCE
Kris Faafoi became a Member of Parliament in 2010 when he was elected as the MP for Mana, before requesting the Commerce and Consumer Affairs portfolio in 2017.
His ongoing focus areas include a review of the Credit-Contracts and Consumer Finance Act, the implementation of the new Financial Services Legislation Amendment Bill, and a review of New Zealand's insurance law. The Minister has also indicated a focus on ensuring regulators are sufficiently resourced, and increasing financial literacy in NZ.
