Rawdon Christie

After taking the wheel at FSF’s inaugural conference in 2017, Rawdon Christie is back to MC Driving Excellence.
Rawdon is an award-winning broadcaster with twenty years' experience in communication and media. His career started with the BBC but he is best-known for his five years presenting TVNZ's Breakfast show, where he interviewed hundreds of guests, from senior politicians and business leaders to Oscar winners and Olympic champions


Hon. Kris Faafoi, MP

MINISTER OF COMMERCE AND CONSUMER AFFAIRS AND CIVIL DEFENCE ASSOCIATE MINISTER FOR IMMIGRATION

Kris became a Member of Parliament in 2010 when he was elected as the MP for Mana, before requesting the Commerce and Consumer Affairs portfolio in 2017.

His focus areas this year have included a review of the Credit-Contracts and Consumer Finance Act, the implementation of the new Financial Services Legislation Amendment Bill, and a review of New Zealand’s insurance law. The Minister has also indicated a focus on ensuring regulators have sufficient resources, and what can be done to increase financial literacy in New Zealand.

Bernard Hickey

Bernard Hickey is one of New Zealand’s most experienced and sought-after speakers in the realm of business, economics and politics. He is based in the Parliamentary Press Gallery in Wellington and is a shareholder and director of one of the country’s newest and most dynamic news sources, Newsroom.co.nz. This role gives him unique insight and access to the movers and shakers of New Zealand corporate and political life. Bernard will provide a bespoke address targeted for Driving Excellence delegates designed to inform, surprise and engage.

Helen Gordon

CEO, AUSTRALIAN FINANCE INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION (AFIA)

Back by popular demand is Helen Gordon, CEO of the Financial Services Federation’s Australian counterpart, the Australian Finance Industry Association (AFIA). Helen will provide an update on the regulatory climate across the Tasman, one year on from her compelling and fascinating address to delegates in 2017.

AFIA had its genesis as the Australian Finance Conference (formed in 1958) before it amalgamated with the members of the Australian Equipment Lessors Association (AELA), Australian Fleet Lessors Association (AFLA) and Debtor & Invoice Finance Association (DIFA), to re-brand as AFIA in mid-2017. Helen has been part of the association for several decades and together with her team advocates on behalf of more than 100 leading providers of consumer, commercial and wholesale credit to ensure they can actively participate in a stable, competitive and accessible finance market.

Sir Gordon Tietjens

CLOSING KEYNOTE SPEAKER

Sir Gordon is a world-renowned sports coaching legend under which the New Zealand Rugby Sevens team achieved phenomenal success over 17 years. In 2016, he took up the new challenge to take the Samoan Sevens team to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics for the first time. Sir Gordon has also made a name for himself as a compelling motivational speaker whose leadership and teamwork philosophies transcend seamlessly into the business environment. Hamish Kerr

MANAGING DIRECTOR, SCOPE

Hamish Kerr has planned and executed numerous major investigations within the corporate and commercial sector, including projects relating to insurance fraud, loss prevention, security risk analysis and the Employment Relations Act. During his tenure as a Police Detective, Hamish held a number of key relationship roles that included holding liaison positions with the serious fraud office, immigration department, the Department of Internal Affairs and the Department of Corrections. Hamish is currently working with a number of Insurance companies providing counter-fraud strategy advice and long-term future-proofing for insurance claims teams. He also continues to work with some of New Zealand’s largest (NZX) companies advising on security and risk.

Michael Cameron

AUTHOR, REALISING THE POTENTIAL OF DRIVERLESS VEHICLES FOR NZ

Michael Cameron is a lawyer and won the 2016 Law Foundation's International Research Fellowship for his project on Realising the Potential of Driverless Vehicles which includes law reform recommendations and was published as a book this year. Michael will draw on his research for the Road Bumps panel discussion about shake-ups in the motor vehicle industry. Michael has worked in private practice and for government, and has many years of experience advising on, developing and implementing legislation in New Zealand and the United Kingdom in a number of different subject areas including public health, climate change adaptation, public/private partnerships, debt recovery, and regulation of monopoly providers.
